Parent weekend

CaI spent 5 days down in Moab area for my internship.  It was a lot of fun, but a little draining.  I got to meet a lot of really neat people and do and see some cool things.   Unfortunately my
camera broke a few weeks ago and so I only have a couple pictures before my phone died....

Halloween

We had a little Halloween get together with some of our favorite movie friends.

Most people don't know Napoleon and Pedro love to hang out with Bain

Wayne's world, Party time, excellent!

(yes both the Walters and us were male couples for Halloween.... That is why we are friends)

Harry and I went to the Provo River Halloween Cruise for the 3rd time.  We actually had a good storyteller this time!  Can't wait for next year.

I updated!

But it is still a work in progress.  I usually feel pretty decent at computers until I try making my blog look good.  My ideas just don't quite work out as planned. But anyway- here are some things we have done over the last few months!

Backpacking in the High Uintas!  It was an awesome hike.

Especially when ten minutes after the picture above, we got caught in a 3 hour hail/rain/thunder/freezing storm.  But I learned something from my Certificate of Adventure New Zealand Level 3... build a BIVY!

After the storm cleared we had a chance to explore some more

My mom wanted to have a girls weekend before the wedding to get to know our new sister/aunt Kristen better.  So she decided to go jetboating

 We love Kristen!
So my grandma is awesome.... they even let her  drive the jet boat.
The jetboating was so fun!  One of the engines did go out so we were stranded for a while... but never fear we were rescued by our old friend Art.

Harry and I raced in the Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon.  And we both placed!  Which is really strange because my time was not that good... and I pretty much doggy paddled the swim.  But the course was so beautiful and we both had a ton of fun!

My mom has all the good pictures so I will post those when I get them from her!

WEDDINGS!!!!
The wedding season is over for us, I don't even know how many we went to this summer.  It was amazing to see so many friends and family get married.  We felt loved and blessed to be a part of a lot of them too!

Brooke and my mom flew us down to Lake Tahoe for my birthday.  Brooke was presenting at an archaeological conference and so we got to see that and hang out at the lake.. even swam in Ocotober.

Kristen, Marco, Lorenzo and Isabelle met us there too! Kristen and have birthdays 4 days apart so we got to celebrate both of ours.  My camera broke after the first day so I only have a few pictures.
Isabelle braving the cold water.
It was really a beautiful and relaxing trip.

We have had lots of fun lately and there is more to come! .... snow is already falling

The Fathers in my life!

Happy Father's Day to these special men in my life:

My own papa who I miss very much.  I can't believe how much has happened since he has been gone.  He is such a good example to me and taught me so many things that have helped me get to where I am now.  Couldn't have asked for a better dad.    I love you daddy!

My new father-in-law who I also love very much.  He an absolute blast to be around and cares for his family so much.  I am luck to have married into the Douglass Clan.  Happy Father's Day Kurt!

To Brooke my future step dad!  He is truly a wonderful person that I am so excited to have in the family.  He makes my mom happy and we all have lots of fun together.  And he loves Hells Canyon almost as much as us.  Love you Brooke !

To Poppy, my sweet  grandfather.  He has been battling the after effects of a stroke like a champion and never is seen with out a smile on his face.  He is one of the most hard-working, humble, and caring persons I have ever met.   Love you G-pa.  Thanks for all you do.  Isn't he so cute?

And last to my husband, we don't have kids yet, but I know he will make an excellent father.   I love how much fun we have together and am so excited to spend every minute I can with you.  Looking forward to forever with you.   Love you.

HONEYMOON

So I FINALLY found out what the honeymoon was going to be as we drove down to salt lake to catch our flight.  We went on a cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada Mexico.  We had a great time.

First we stayed in LA for a day.  We were pretty far away from everything so the only thing we really did was go out to eat and walk down the beach for while.

The cruise was a blast.  Everyone on the boat was totally plastered the entire time so it was really entertaining.  We met one guy who had a $500 bar tab...after four days.  We didn't spend a dollar on food or drinks.  I prefer our way.
We had to take a ferry to get to Catalina Island.  I loved Catalina Island

We rented bikes there and rode around for a while and up to a botanical garden.  It was really pretty

and there was this cool monument at the end of it that was huge.  It was for some guy that thought Catalina Island was neat so he wanted to help preserve its natural beauty. Good job guy.

Then we rented wet suits (the whole cruise trip was in a little cold spell the area was having)  and went snorkeling.   The first wet suit the lady got me was really small.  I am not a small lady, its okay just get a bigger size.

This is about the only area on the island with houses.

The biggest building, I think it is a Casino

The water was really murky, and there were HUGE seaweed trees/monsters that were freaking me out.  yuck.

Arriving at Ensenada was cool.  You can't really tell in the picture, but this flag is the biggest flag I have ever seen. It was beautiful waving in the breeze.  I don't have any more pictures from here but Harry and I walked  down to a beach.... which was not 12 miles down the road like the bus man told us.  We could see it from the boat and had a map.  It was like a mile and half walk.  I think that guy was really out of shape.

We were pretty much the only people on the beach and the beach was huge, probably going on for over a mile.  The first place we started swimming we got in trouble by the lifegaurds because it was an undertow areas... oops.  So we moved over and were good friends with the lifegaurds after that.   We also fell asleep on the beach and got really burned even though it was cool and overcast.
Harry took full advantage to all the free food.  Yes, three ice cream cones at once.
 So relaxing
We decided on the last day to play mini golf on top of the boat.  It was also the same time that the wind picked up to about 50 mph.  It was really fun.  At least I had an excuse for sucking so bad.

We had so much fun! So nice to get away for a while as newlyweds!
